  • About

Sponsored by Elston Consulting, run by LYR.

Teams of 2 test themselves to row 2km together on a Concept 2 rowing machine, relay style. The event is part of City Giving Day to support LYR the charity that gives disadvantaged young people access to the powerful sport of rowing. From a unique location on the steps of the Royal Exchange in the heart of the City of London join us for this fun and informal event. No expertise necessary, just your enthusiasm!

A 2km sprint for Sir Steve Redgrave would take 5mins 51 secs (Andy did it in 5:43 - just saying), for the rest of us, maybe a little longer!

Outline:

  • Tuesday 26th Sept, 4pm to 6pm at the Royal Exchange, Bank.
  • Participation is for teams of 2 (one male, one female)
  • Relay style event so the 2km is broken down into sections with the rowers jumping on and off at intervals of their choosing to keep the flywheel spinning until the distance is reached.
  • Racing runs from 4pm to 6pm – you can propose a start-time to suit you when you sign up and we will do our best to accommodate it.
  • there will be a prize for the fastest time at the afterparty in the Anthologist, Gresham St.

The aim of the Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day is to invite City firms to play their part and raise money via events like these in a bid to create a fairer society. A corporate donation of £250 is suggested, or individual donations from you and your supporters. These can be submitted via our dedicated fundraising page here: londonyouthrowing.enthuse.com/cf/city-giving-day

The event is sponsored by Elston Consulting and run by London Youth Rowing with 100% of funds raised going to support London Youth Rowing
